Jeremy Eckhous

Following a stint in broadcast engineering, Eckhous earned a MA degree from Michigan Statue University in Educational Technology. Upon graduation he joined Sandy Corporation, an interactive development and educational development firm, working with IBMs's Advanced Education Center, General Motors, Mercury Marine, and DuPont Automotive.

Moving to BBDO and the automotive retail sector, Eckhous lead a team that developed a range of interactive learning libraries for the service, sales, and dealership management audiences for Chrysler Corporation. Using this opportunity to as an entry point into the automotive shopping and lead collection space, Eckhous went on to develop a wide range of place-based and web-based interactive applications for new vehicle product learning, vehicle presentation, shopping and product ordering.

Moving into the Internet in the mid-1990s, Eckhous began a steady series of initiatives involving the launches of many leading automotive websites, including jeep.com, gmbuypower.com, onstar.com, gm/xmradio.com acdelco.com. and many others. He also began to focus on innovative digital promotional concepts, including promotional partnerships with CompuServe and AOL.

In 1998, Eckhous directed a team that helped to design, test, and launch gmbuypower.com – the first fully integrated, online, automotive shopping site created by a major manufacturer and fully integrated with a retail prospect lead management system. Numerous research and development efforts in refining the shopping-buying-ownership with GM and other agency partners continued through early 2001.

Additional work with GM in the early 2000s led to significant experience with the GM Advanced Technology Vehicle operation, helping to develop electric vehicle branding and marketing efforts for the states of California, New York and Massachusetts.

In the last two years, Eckhous has begun to focus again on emerging digital media Recent projects have included innovative efforts with:

  • MySpace and Pontiac Division - urban street and music promotions
  • Daimler Chrysler - retail broadband narrowcasting and service promotion merchandising
  • GMAC Residential - electronic sales lead channel development, interactive POS systems and brand building

Most recently BrightEye Media has joined with VIA – the Virtual Interactive Agency, to begin investigation of opportunities in the virtual and immersive computing environments like Second Life, Active Worlds, and other initiatives.
